The Legend of Billie Jean

Slater made his big screen debut in 1985 in the film The Legend of Billie Jean. The movie begins with Billie Jean Davy (Helen Slater), a Corpus Christi, Texas high school girl, riding with her younger brother, Binx (Christian Slater), on a Honda Elite. They stop at an ice cream stand and are having fun until a group of boys, led by Hubie Pyatt (Barry Tubb), start trouble with them. Hubie tries to grab Billie Jean, but Binx dumps his milkshake on Hubie, and they ride off. Later, they stop to take a swim in a lake. After their swim, Billie Jean tells Binx about Vermont, and Binx expresses a desire to go there. During their conversation about travelling there, Hubie and his friends arrive, apparently looking to settle a score with Binx.

Heathers

Heathers is a 1989 black comedy film starring Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty. The film portrays four girls in a trend-setting clique at a suburban Midwestern high school. The girls—three of whom are named "Heather"—rule the school through intimidation, contempt, and sex appeal.

Arrested

December 29, 1989

Slater was arrested in West Hollywood, California, after allegedly leading sheriff's deputies on a car chase. A sheriff's spokesman said Slater crashed into a telephone pole, kicked a cop after getting out of his car, then tried to escape over a fence. He was charged with evading police, driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon {his cowboy boots} and driving with a suspended license.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

Slater's most notable roles from the '90s include the role of outlaw Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner), an English nobleman, joins King Richard the Lionheart and other Christians in the Third Crusade. While at war, Robin is captured and jailed in a dungeon in Jerusalem. With his execution inevitable, Robin engineers an escape, saving the life of a Moor, Azeem (Morgan Freeman) in the process. Robin makes the long journey back to England with Azeem, who claims he must accompany Robin until the debt of saving his life is repaid.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles

In present time, San Francisco reporter Daniel (Christian Slater), is sitting in a room with a man named Louis (Brad Pitt), who claims to be a vampire. Daniel is unconvinced until Louis turns on the light and instantly appears in front of him, moving extremely fast. Daniel agrees to interview Louis, who recalls his previous life and his turn to darkness.

Arrested

December 1, 1994

Slater was arrested at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport in December 1994 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon (the actor had packed a handgun). Slater reached a plea agreement in early 1995 that required him to spend three days working with homeless children.

Major Vic 'Deak' Deakins (John Travolta) and Captain Riley Hale (Christian Slater) are pilots in the United States Air Force. The film begins with a boxing match between the two, where Hale is knocked out by Deakins. After the match Hale gives the bet money of the match back to Deakins saying he had stolen it from his wallet. Later both the pilots are assigned to a top secret exercise on a B3 Stealth Bomber with two nuclear missiles on board. Deakins and Hale take off from Whiteman Air Force Base in the Bomber (a fictional advanced version of the actual B-2 Spirit stealth bomber) carrying the two live nuclear weapons on an evening exercise over Utah.

Arrested

August 11, 1997

On August 11, 1997, he was arrested by police in Los Angeles and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of battery. Slater, drunk and high on heroin, punched his then-girlfriend, fashion editor Michelle Jonas, in the face at a party and bit a man who attempted to protect her. Slater did not go quietly, but hid in a stairwell and fought with officers, reportedly shouting, "The Germans are coming and they will kill us!" He then attacked a police officer. All the felony charges against him, however, were eventually dropped. He was sentenced to three months in prison and released for good behavior after serving 59 days.

Swimming with Sharks

From October 5, 2007, until January 19, 2008, Slater stars as Buddy Ackerman in the West End production Swimming with Sharks at Vaudeville Theatre, London. A remake of the 1994 film starring Kevin Spacey, the play sees Slater star alongside Helen Baxendale.
