It was filmed at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico City and included a soundtrack by the band Toto. As in the novel, the central plot concerns a young man foretold in prophecy as the "Kwisatz Haderach" who will protect the titular desert planet from the malevolent House Harkonnen and save the universe from evil.

The film features Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper and Laura Dern. The title Blue Velvet is taken from the 1963 Bobby Vinton song of the same name. The film was strongly acclaimed by critics, although initially detested by some. It earned Lynch his second Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Blue Velvet is also noted for re-launching Dennis Hopper's career.

Twin Peaks is an American Emmy Award nominated Peabody and Golden Globe-winning television serial drama that follows the investigation of the brutal death of popular, respected teenager and homecoming queen, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), headed by Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, Twin Peaks's pilot episode was first broadcast on April 8, 1990 on the ABC Network, which led to another eleven episodes being produced, and a second season, which aired until June 10, 1991. The show is set in a small fictional Washington town known as "Twin Peaks", and was primarily filmed in the Washington towns of Snoqualmie and North Bend.

In 1995, MacLachlan starred in Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls. The movie was universally panned by critics as one of the worst ever made[citation needed] and it collected seven Golden Raspberry Awards (from a record thirteen nominations). MacLachlan himself was deeply embarrassed with his involvement and infamously walked out of the film's premiere, at which he was allegedly heard exclaiming, "I thought this was an art movie.". He has stated that he did not walk out of the premiere and that he "suffered through the whole two hours of it." It did not seriously damage his career, unlike co-star Elizabeth Berkley, whose career suffered considerable damage.

In Justice adds an interesting twist to the common drama—it focuses on freeing wrongly convicted criminals. Kyle MacLachlan (of the cult series Twin Peaks) stars as David Swain, the head of a high-profile organization called the National Justice Project (commonly abbreviated as "NJP") in the San Francisco Bay Area, along with his partner, Charles Conti (portrayed by Jason O'Mara). Members of the National Justice Project work together to overturn wrongful convictions, liberate the falsely accused and discover the identity of those who are really to blame. Although the NJP is fictional, there are organizations which examine cases involving people who may have been wrongly convicted (e.g. the Innocence Project).

The show features an ensemble cast, headed by Teri Hatcher as Susan Delfino, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Hodge, Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle Solis and Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt. Brenda Strong narrates the show as the deceased Mary Alice Young.
